Tooth Replacement in the Anterior Zone - High Esthetic Risk Profile Case

Description:
There are many approaches to replace a tooth by an implant in the esthetic zone; but the difficulty remains a predictable technique for an esthetic outcome longterm. Since the introduction of the Sockeshield Technique (SST) in 2010, Dr. Haakon Kuit is using this technique especially in high-esthetic risk profile cases. He documented cases up to 9 years after placing the implant. In this case presentation, no visible changes in hard and soft tissue architecture occur if this SS technique is used.

Dentistry has benefited in many ways with advances in digital technology. Lectures about digital dentistry are usually showing in many terabytes and animations effortless protocols. Daily we face problems like data loss, reduced visibility and irrigation with surgical guides, difficulties with edentulous jaw scanning and alignment to name only some of them. Obstacles that we find in a daily practice on the way to the digital dentistry for the full arch implant reconstruction are shown in this lecture.

The Role of Occlusion in Implant Prosthetics
In this presentation Dr. Carlo Poggio delves into the biomechanics and clinical relevance of proper occlusal management in implant dentistry. Combining a thorough review of the literature with clinical dental applications, Dr. Poggio attempts to suggest a rational for designing the occlusion for implant restorations. Topics covered include comparison of occlusal management for teeth and implants. In addition, the importance of controlling the occlusal forces to protect the bone-implant interface from overload and the role of occlusion in peri-implant microbial infection.

Controversies Surrounding Delayed vs. Immediate Implant Placement: Is There No Middle Ground?
Delayed vs. Immediate Implant Placement: The two camps in this debate are both adamant that their technique is the best and that theirs will give the patients the best long term aesthetic result. Is the literature and available data definitive on this matter? Is the choice really clear for clinicians? This presentation looks critically at the literature and attempts to give clinicians a more flexible approach to immediate and delayed implant placement. Critical surgical guidelines and clinical pearls will be offered for both types of treatment as well as the management of some of the complications that may arise from immediate or delayed implant placement.

Implants in the Esthetic Zone: How to Get Predictable Results Premium Member Content

Implants in the Esthetic Zone: How to Get Predictable Results
Placings implants in the anterior maxilla can be a challenging treatment, since these are esthetically demanding cases. To achieve esthetic results which are similar to the natural tooth, first an understanding of the resorption process must be understood. Secondly with the help of three-dimensional planning on CBCT images, a protocol can be made at which timepoint an implant should be placed: immediate, early or delayed. Also, when is it a good option to preserve the socket rather than to wait for spontaneous healing. The final esthetics are not only the white esthetics, but the pink esthetics should be restored as well by means of a transitional temporary crown to create a cervical and emergence profile.

A Full Mouth Rehabilitation in Four Major Visits
Modern technology can dramatically cut the time and number of visits for a complex implant case while greatly improving the precision of the final result. The great advantage of the processes shown in this presentation is that the clinician retains full control of precision implant placement, emergence profile development and the construction and aesthetics of the final rehabilitation.

Root Fracture During Insertion of Prefabricated Posts
The consequence of inappropriate post selection and/ or hasty insertion can result in tooth fracture and/or loss. It has been demonstrated that conical or parallel sided post design has a direct effect on root fracture during post insertion. However, during experimentation it became apparent that root size and its relationship to post size had a direct effect on root fracture. This article correlates root size, post size, and fracture rate during insertion of prefabricated posts.
