A 44-year-old female had bone loss and mobile anterior teeth, so the dentist decided to extract all the lower teeth and allowed a healing period of about 3 months post-extraction. Implants were then placed with bone grafting, followed by about 7-8 months to ensure the implants were fully osseointegrated into the lower jaw. During the healing period, the patient attempted to use a temporary denture, but it was unsuitable, so she remained edentulous. The first X-ray was taken one month after implant placement, and the second X-ray was taken after placing the temporary bridge, six months post-implant surgery.
Dear colleagues, I am a dental student seeking your professional opinion on whether the dentist made the appropriate clinical decisions. Additionally, based on the X-rays, do you think the surgery was successful, and is the patient ready to place the permanent prosthesis?
Thank you for your insights.
