The core value of computed tomography is the ability to manage complex information for patient specific problems. High-resolution, focused field cone-beam CT provides for exquisite anatomical detail and 3-D visualizations that is revolutionizing interdisciplinary dentistry. The treating team can now view the dentition and related anatomical structures from any perspective. Recent studies that are redefining the possibilities of treatment will also be reviewed. This presentation focuses on the recent introduction of affordable, innovative combination CBCT/panoramic units and how they are used in examination and diagnosis in periodontics as well as CT guided implantology and beyond. Emerging concepts in interdisciplinary dentofacial therapy will also be presented.
