Merging Orthodontics & Esthetic Dentistry for the Anterior Zone. A Complete Clinical & Laboratory Perspective

Description:
Anterior zone represents a clinical challenge in dentofacial esthetics. This presentation is unique since we will illustrate multidisciplinary treatment for the anterior zone from A to Z. Through the perspective of a Master Dental Ceramist & Restorative Dentist combined with the input of the Orthodontist we will illustrate with clinical cases the management of anterior esthetic challenges. Skeletal & dental problems are treated through orthodontics & orthognatic surgery prior to periodontal plastic surgery & finally high quality restorative dentistry gives the final touch to our cases. Extensive details of the ceramic laboratory work will be explained & illustrated for preserving as much as possible tooth structure. The complete management of anterior veneers & metal free crowns will be explained in detail. Color & shapes are an integral part of this webinar. Individualizing solutions for each patient is the key to veneers & crowns looking as close as possible to natural teeth. The orthodontist, ceramist and restorative dentist merge art & science for the best possible results. The protocol for long term care of these anterior esthetic restorations will be presented. As an integral part of long term results that meet both function & esthetics. The importance of good clinical photography & smile design principles in anterior esthetic dentistry will be illustrated through our clinical cases.

Very nice presentation Dr Hirschhaut, I enjoy all of it ,Thanks

Thanks for your kind comments Dr. Goldstein. Certainly Rafael Laplana and Anabell Bologna do fantastic esthetic dentistry in our multidisciplinary cases. I think you will like part 2 of our webinar. We will present another 5 challenging anterior cases solved through combining orthodontics and high esthetic dentistry. Our thinking is always oriented to team work for total dentofacial esthetics. Best regards, Miguel Hirschhaut

No doubt about it...matching a single central crown is one of the biggest challenges in denitstry...and there was a very good result in this case...any slight difference in shade or internal staining would never be seen at conversational distance. So excellent results and well planned cases. Great teamwork...I look forward to seeing part 2.

Thanks Tyler. I know Dr. Sarver well and have seen his lectures at the AAO meetings. I will get in touch with him. Looking forward to his webinar as well. Your amigo, Miguel

Dr. Hirschhaut - We have another Xpert, Dr. David Sarver, on the dentalxp presenting a webinar November 18th and he is also an excellent orthodontist that uses a software that basically superimposes all the images over time and you can see the transition on the entire case. It is very cool and i feel like you would enjoy using it on your tremendous cases as well! You should reach out to him and find out what software he uses and how it works. Here is his Xpert page with contact information: www.dentalxp.com/xperts/dsarver

Miguel Hirschhaut - (10/22/2015 10:48 AM)

Thanks Maurice. The bite should be obtained ideally orthodontically. I think occlusal tables are a tool better for "locking" the occlusion post-ortho. However in some cases our prosthodontist compensates for small orthodontic shortcomes. We will show in part 2 of the webinar once is posted. More full cases where these occlusal table tops aid in post ortho "locking" the occlusion. We give these deep bite cases for long term retention a night occlusal splint for life. We take full final Xrays on all our cases as well as one year control. I will do superimposition tracings and documment the changes. Kind regards, Miguel

The Complete Esthetic Analysis: Macro-Mini-and Microesthetics
In restorative dentistry, esthetics is evaluated in terms of anterior tooth display and smile design. For orthodontists and oral surgeons, the focus is on the facial profile. Interdisciplinary treatment in dentistry has progressed enormously in the past two decades, with collaboration among dentists, orthodontists, periodontists, and oral surgeons resulting in vastly superior results compared to those achieved working without collaboration. But our vision can, and should, still expand to broader appearance issues. With the assessment and treatment of other dimensions of the smile and facial esthetics, the target is the ultimate dentofacial esthetic outcome. This lecture will demonstrate the coordination of care between the disciplines of dentistry and facial plastic surgery, resulting in gratifying enhancement of our esthetic and functional results.

The Role of Orthodontics in the Multidisciplinary Treatment of Complex Cases - Part 1 of 2
Orthodontics sets up the foundation for future prosthetics in cases with periodontal, surgical and restorative dentistry requirements. Adult orthodontics simplifies complex clinical situations. Making it easier for restorative dentist to achieve better esthetic & functional results. Orthognatic surgery combined with orthodontics corrects skeletal discrepancies in order to have the patient ready for prosthodontic replacement of multiple missing teeth. Cases combined with implants to restore form & function will further illustrate the importance of multidisciplinary dentistry. Today´s practice requires a team approach that will be presented. In order to meet the patient´s demands for better esthetics and to obtain long term occlusal stability of our results.

Maximizing Anterior Esthetics
As the new millennium gradua lly unfolds. the impact on dentistry will be substantial. In the past, the paradigm that controlled dental education and clinical dentistry was devoted to repairing the aftermath of the two major dental diseases (dental caries and periodontitis). However, in most regions of the United States, dental caries in younger individuals has decreased substantially for the past 25 years, due to fluoridation and the use of occlusal sealants. Furthermore, the number of patients with…

Decision Making for Soft and Hard Tissue Augmentation in Surgically Facilitated Orthodontics
The purpose of this article is to present a decision-making algorithm for soft and hard tissue augmentation in surgically facilitated orthodontics (SFOT). In cases where there is adequate hard and soft tissue envelope, selective corticotomies may be adequate. In cases, where the existing hard and soft tissue anatomy is inadequate, hard and soft tissue augmentation is recommended. Also, hard and soft tissue augmentation is recommended to avoid teeth extractions during orthodontics.
