I posted this as another option in extraction techniques but you are correct not for all or even most indications today. Typically this technique works best when there has been some significant attachment loss or bone loss in the posterior region and NOT when immediate implants are planned due to risk of labial plate fracture. Dr. Salama, I found that a big traumatic ulcer is always developing after using this technique plus fracturing the facial plate of bone. According to my experience it is just suitable in case of remaining roots or if you are planning for immediate implant placement.

Larry; To be perfectly honest, as new techniques have developed I have moved away from this modality. It can still be successful but requires patience and time to develop the skill set and does not always protect the labial bone. Dr. Salama
