Very good

Suzan Banjar - (1/12/2016 3:44 AM)

What about if there is a buccal fenestration at the apex of the root? Do you still do the same protocol ??

karl jobst95 - (1/6/2016 6:21 PM)

Thank you for the great video. We have achieved the same results numerous times. We remove the tooth lingually and stay away from the buccal plate without doing a flap.

Graham Roy - (1/4/2016 5:40 AM)

Dr Tarnow,
thankyou for an excellent presentation.
Stephen Chen [ITI] has produced data indicating that many problems only occur visibly at five plus years. What is the longest duration of your follow-ups for these procedures please?
Many thyanks. Graham Roy

Excellent Presentation.

SAVITHRI RAVINDRAN - (1/25/2014 3:15 AM)

If buccal plate destroyed in the apical 1/3 but intact 2/3 of the root length from gingival margin,is it o.k to place an immediate implant with grafting ?

Thank u Dr.Tarnow. Very good lecture and easy to remember. Help me a lot!

Mariano Villarino - (10/8/2013 10:19 PM)

clap clap clap. 4 keys to remember in type 1 sockets in the aesthetic zone: no flaps, implant positioning towards the palate, graft the gap, immediate provisionalization or customized abutment. It can´t fail! Thanks Dr. Tarnow

Update on the Socket Shield Technique

Update on the Socket Shield Technique
Socket shield has been around for 10 years. The technique itself has changed since inception in order to help manage potential complications and pitfalls. One of the biggest issues with the technique is that there is no standardised protocol. This short communication is there to set out our step by step protocol on how to predictably carry out the socket shield technique.

Current Concepts in Immediate Implants Premium Member Content

Current Concepts in Immediate Implants
Immediate implants have several advantages over traditional phased implant placement. Shortened treatment time and a single surgical procedure are among some of these benefits. Although the surgical techniques can be more challenging, immediate implants can be a predictable treatment modality in both the esthetic zone and molar sites. This presentation will discuss immediate implant placement and temporization in the esthetic zone as well as immediate replacement of molar sites using regular platform implants. More advanced technical procedures, including simultaneous sinus augmentation and guided bone regeneration will also be discussed.

The Implant Supra-Crestal Complex: Building the Foundation for Long-Term Stable Results in Implant Therapy - Part 2 of 2
The lecture reveals recent evidence to identify the impact of design features on both short-term clinical outcomes, as well as on the long-term health of the peri-implant bone and soft tissues. Prosthetic-driven implant placement is the prerequisite for the proper design of the ISC, which in turn can indirectly influence the structure and dimensions of the peri-implant soft tissues. Design features of the implant-prosthesis abutment complex such as the Emergence Profile (EP), Emergence Angle (EA) and Cervical Margin (CM), as well as the design of the implant-abutment and abutment prosthesis junctions and their location in relation to the tissues of the ISC can have significant impact in the maintenance of stable and healthy peri-implant tissues in the long term.

Microsurgical Soft Tissue Reconstruction for Teeth & Implants - Part 2 of 2
Esthetics plays a key role in a modern society and the average dental health of the population is improving every day. In such environment, the demands of dental treatments are different and dentists should approach their patients in a different way: they should be prepared to implement different and modern techniques around teeth and implants. Soft tissue grafting techniques provide the dentist with an armamentarium that makes possible to prevent and solve many problems and complications around teeth and implants, making more predictable the treatments results. This presentation is focused in the importance of soft tissue grafting techniques around teeth and implants and how to do it in a predictable, modern and a minimally invasive way. We present many different techniques illustrated with clinical cases.

Predictable Implant Aesthetics Utilizing A Custom Fabricated Provisional Abutment & Impression Coping Premium Member Content

Predictable Implant Aesthetics Utilizing A Custom Fabricated Provisional Abutment & Impression Coping
Mastering the art of predictable implant aesthetics can be challenging. One of the most stressful areas for most dentists is the process of creating a beautiful provisional that will guide tissue and predictably communicate the aesthetic outcome for the final restoration in the aesthetic zone. Combining the use of a custom fabricated provisional abutment, provisional restoration and a custom fabricated impression coping many of the aesthetics challenges can be addressed. This information can then be communicated to the laboratory to ensure the most predictable aesthetic outcome possible. This program is designed to simplify and streamline the entire process of implant provisionalization and impression. This program will provide a systematic, step by step approach to tissue management, provisionalization and impression of implant cases.

Immediate Placement of Dental Implants in the Esthetic Zone: A Systematic Review and Pooled Analysis

Immediate Placement of Dental Implants in the Esthetic Zone: A Systematic Review and Pooled Analysis
Research interest on immediate placement of dental implants has shifted from implant survival toward optimal preservation of soft and hard tissues. The aim of this study is to systematically assess the condition of implant survival, peri-implant hard and soft tissue changes, esthetic outcome, and patient satisfaction of immediately placed single- tooth implants in the esthetic zone. A pooled analysis was performed to identify factors associated with survival and peri-implant tissue changes after immediate implant placement. Immediate placement with immediate provisionalization of dental implants in the esthetic zone results in excellent short-term treatment outcome in terms of implant survival and minimal change of peri-implant soft and hard tissue dimensions.

Treating Two Adjacent Missing Teeth in the Esthetic Zone - Part 1: The Pink Hybrid Restoration & the Unilateral Versus Bilateral Defect Concept
This article, the first of a planned three-part series, outlines a new surgical & prosthetic approach for treating cases involving two missing adjacent teeth in the esthetic zone. These type of cases, particularly when combined with a three-dimensional ridge deficiency, represent one of esthetic dentistry's most challenging dilemmas. A Clear understanding of the unilateral and bilateral defect concept is necessary to properly evaluate each particular case, understand surgical limitations, perform a better risk assessment, establish an esthetic prognosis, develop the best clinical-laboratory strategy, and adjust patients' expectations. While not recommended for every case, represents a useful, economical, and predictable alternative that decreases the umber and complexity of interventions.
